NEW YORK –Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman released the following statement on a proposed amicus brief filed by his office asking an appellate court to reverse a decision allowing a planned LG Electronics office tower to proceed. The tower will rise over the Palisades tree line, infringing on a vista that has been protected by the states of New York and New Jersey.
“The Palisades park was jointly created more than 100 years ago for the express purpose of preserving magnificent views for millions of people in New York and New Jersey,” Attorney General Schneiderman said. “But the proposed LG office tower project looms over the park, threatening not only to mar its beauty but to ruin the collaborative effort dedicated to its preservation. On behalf of millions of New Yorkers whose lives are enriched by the Palisades, I am asking the New Jersey court to help ensure that this historic vista is maintained.”
