NEW YORK—Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman issued the following statement today on the passage of the Comprehensive Contraception Coverage Act in the State Assembly:
“Comprehensive, cost-free access to birth control is critical to ensuring all women have a right to choose whether or when to have a child– a cornerstone goal of the Affordable Care Act. A woman’s personal healthcare decisions should never be determined by her boss. New York has a long history of being of the forefront of the fight for women’s rights – a role that is especially important at a time when those rights are being attacked across the nation. I applaud the Assembly for building on our state’s legacy in passing the Comprehensive Contraception Coverage Act, a bill sponsored by my office which will guarantee that all New Yorkers have access to their most effective method of birth control.”
